Recently TTH assisted a company in designing and manufacturing 3D printed ornaments and magnets. But these are not your “run of the mill” ornaments and magnets.
What was the problem?
A company wanted to develop a new magnet and ornament product line that had a home town feel based off popular Cleveland attractions and scenery.
The product lines which were based off Cleveland’s West Side Market, Tower City, Skyline, and the Guardians of Traffic Bridge.
This company was going to present and sell the new product line at two different trade shows over the course of one week.
How was the problem solved?
TTH utilized specialized software to convert photos to 3D models.
After the 3D models were created, the parts were 3D printed in Color Jet Printing (CJP) to allow for multi-color and realistic detail. We were able to efficiently move the product development cycle along, since we designed and printed the products in house.
CJP printed the parts with the appropriate texture and colors to show depth of the images. As a result, the parts exhibited high quality, and unique characteristics that could not be matched by others.
How did the company benefit?
We were able to move product development process quickly. The products went from an idea to production in 2 weeks.
3D printing through CJP was utilized so that inventory could be adjusted quickly based off forecasted show demand. Although customers’ orders did not require a backlog, the products were run in smaller batches to offer a one f a kind feel.
The products truly have a home-town feel, since every aspect of the product development process was done locally.
As a result, customers took notice of the detail and texture. These new product lines which were some of the best selling at the shows.
